Dejanirah Couto (EPHE) et Jean-Louis Bacqué-Grammont (CNRS, directeur de l'IFEA de 1984 à 1991), responsables du séminaire d'histoire ottomane Mers ottomanes, de la Méditerranée à l'Océan Indien font partie du comité scientifique et ont participé à ce colloque international rassemblant des chercheurs de tous horizons, jeunes docteurs et universitaires confirmés.

Exposition "Smyrne aux 18e et 19e siècles: Regards Occidentaux" 25/09-29/12/2013

Dans le cadre de l’exposition ont été réunis près de 300 documents et oeuvres d’art grâce aux prêts de musées européens de premier plan, de bibliothèques et de collections privées, et dont la plupart n’ont jamais été exposés jusqu’à présent.
L'IFEA est au nombre des institutions prêteuses d'œuvres avec des documents d'archives issus de l'Atelier de cartographie. Nous avons prété des plans d'assurance GOAD ainsi que des guides ou voyageurs de l'IFEA.

The American Research Institute of the South Caucasus (ARISC) announces the availability of US graduate student, postdoctoral and junior faculty (pre-tenure) fellowships in support of research and mentoring activities in the South Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, and/or Georgia). The goals of the fellowship are
  1. to support research in and the study of the South Caucasus; and
  2. to select, recognize and financially support individuals early in their careers who demonstrate high potential to contribute to research in this region.
Projects in all fields in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences are eligible, but all projects must include one or more undergraduate and/or graduate students from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and/or Georgia as research assistants/participants in order to foster long-term ties between the academic communities in the U.S. and the South Caucasus.
Research awards will be made for a maximum of $5000 each to help cover travel, living, and research expenses in the South Caucasus; an additional $500 may be made available for fellows to offset necessary expenses related to incorporating an undergraduate or graduate student in the host country in their research program.
Proposals will be judged on their quality and on the potential of the research to strengthen scholarship on the South Caucasus.

Le président de la holding Arkas a inauguré la 17 mai 2012 un nouveau musée consacré à l'histoire maritime à Bornova (Izmir).

Le musée expose près d'uen centaine de maquettes de navires allant du premier millénaire avant JC au 20e siècle, des antiquités maritimes ainsi qu'une collection de 67 œuvres picturales rassemblées au cours des 30 dernières années par Lucien Arkas.

Ce nouveau musée vient compléter l'offre culturelle de la Arkas Holding qui a déjà ouvert en novembre 2011 un centre de soutien et promotion des arts dans une aile du bâtiment du consulat honoraire de France à Izmir.

 

ARCHAEOLOGY OF HATAY AND ITS VICINITY THROUGH THE AGES
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM

Thema: Throughout its occupational history, Hatay, located on the corner of Northern Levant which is the end Mediterranean coast of Turkey, acted both as a buffer zone and provided connectedness with far-flung regions and being home to many cultures and civilizations. Located at the conjunction point of distinct civilizations it provided a passageway for Anatolian highlands to the north and the Syrian plain and Palestine to the south, Upper Mesopotamia to the east and Mediterranean coast to the west. The geographical position and natural sources of Hatay provided suitable living conditions for human from the Paleolithic to present. The archaeological and historical significance of the region in the wider setting of the Near East and the Eastern Mediterranean contexts has been well defined by the results of the archaeological researches in Hatay since the beginning of 1900’s. The recent investigations are providing a wide range of datasets at the micro and macro scale answering the questions of the settlement history of the region. The recent archaeological results from surveys and excavations conducted in Hatay and its vicinity (Eastern Mediterranean-Euphrates river valley) has added new perspectives starting from the beginning to the classical and Islamic periods.
 
In this framework Mustafa Kemal University, Department of Archaeology organize an International conference entitled “Archaeology of Hatay and Its Vicinity Through the Ages”. Regarding the excavations and surveys carried out in the region from the beginning to present, the Symposium aims to provide a platform to scientists for discussing and sharing their results of the researches. A special section will be given to Hatay from archaeological and historical perspective.

Date: Symposium will be planned before the international symposium of the excavation and survey results meeting which are organized periodically every year by the Ministry Culture and Tourism (at the last week in May). Exact dates will be announced to participants depends on this symposium’s date.   
 
Place: Mustafa Kemal University in Antakya-Hatay.
 
Language: Turkish, English, German, French.
 
Papers: The submission of entries, accompanied by the title of the paper and brief abstract (max. 250 words) should be sent via e mail or mail to the communication address written below. Papers should not extend than 20 minutes.
A special volume will be published following the symposium. The deadline for abstract is 31st December 2012.
 
Accomodation: The transfer and meal expenses will be covered by the symposium organizers, but the accommodation and travel expenses belong to the participants (individual reservation). Alternatively hotel and university options will be announced in second call.
 
We hope for a succesfull conference and are looking forward to welcoming you in the historical city of Antakya.

A lire, dans le quotidien Cumhuriyet l’éditorial d’Özgen ACAR (‘Kavşak’) consacré à la question du trafic international d’œuvres culturelles (en pleine expansion sur fond de crise économique), de leurs répercussions sur les relations internationales, de l’importance de la sensibilisation de la population et du rôle joué par les institutions telles que l’UNESCO, du besoin de dialogue entre les pays concernés, au-delà de la convention de 1970 qui visait à mettre à plat le droit international en terme de restitution d’œuvres.

 

L’atelier international Kayseri propose de réfléchir au Germir de demain en croisant aménagement urbain et paysager, architecture et restauration. Que souhaite-t-on pour Germir dans le contexte des mutations urbaines rapides aux alentours ? Comment établir des transitions plus douces et des relations plus fructueuses entre ancien et nouveau ? Comment préserver le caractère historique du quartier, valoriser et  réhabiliter son patrimoine bâti et paysager ainsi que ses espaces urbains, tout en permettant à ses habitants d’améliorer les conditions de leur habitat et de rester dans leur quartier qui pourra devenir un lieu de visite et de découverte ?


L’atelier international Kayseri a été mis en place par les Villes de Strasbourg et de Kayseri en partenariat avec l’Ensas et l’Université Erciyes (Kayseri) et profite d’une subvention qui permet de prendre en charge le voyage et la majeure partie des coûts sur place (hôtel confortable, quelques repas, transports). Deux voyages préparatoires ont permis d'élaborer le sujet et les modalités de travail avec les autorités locales.

Encadrés par Anne Jauréguiberry, Didier Laroche, Barbara Morovich et Volker Ziegler, 15 à 20 étudiants de master 2 pourront participer à l’atelier à Kayseri, autant d’enseignants et d’étudiants participeront de l’Université Erciyes. Des espaces de travail sont disponibles sur place et à l’université, des échanges avec la mairie et les habitants sont prévues ainsi qu’une excursion en Cappadoce.

L’inscription pédagogique se fera en UEM211 Projets, espaces et processus urbains (domaine « Architecture, ville et territoire »), quelques places sont ouvertes à des étudiants qui s’inscriront en UEM211 Construire dans l’existant (domaine « Projet, histoire, patrimoines »).
Après la phase intensive à Kayseri, le travail de projet se prolongera en atelier à Strasbourg pendant semestre, avec des échanges Strasbourg-Kayseri de type « Skype ». Il est possible de poursuivre ce travail en PFE au 2e semestre dans les deux domaines de master.

Une exposition publique des travaux est prévue à Kayseri en avril/mai 2013 et à Strasbourg en mai/juin 2013 ainsi qu’une brochure bilingue.

Critères d’éligibilité

Les critères généraux d’éligibilité sont les suivants:

  • être ressortissant(e) et résident(e) d’un pays membre de la Banque mondiale actuellement habilité à emprunter
  • ne pas être âgé(e) de plus de 45 ans. Les candidats(e) nés(e) avant le 1er janvier 1966 ne sont pas éligibles
  • être titulaire au moins d’un master ou DEA, ou d’un diplôme équivalent, au moment de la demande
  • être régulièrement inscrit(e) à un programme de doctorat dans le pays d’origine ou un autre pays membre de la Banque mondiale
  • avoir complété, le cas échéant, tous les cours et examens requis par le programme de doctorat
  • être employé(e) comme enseignant(e) ou chercheur à temps complet par une institution d’enseignement supérieur ou de recherche dans le pays d’origine
  • avoir obtenu une invitation en tant que chercheur visiteur d’une université ou centre de recherche pour une période de 5 à 10 mois dans un pays autre que le pays d’origine ou de résidence
