« Azerbaijan at the crossroads of foreign influence: geopolitical assessment of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy »
Sunum İngilizcedir
The point is to discuss the various attempts by the neighboring powers – Turkey, Iran and Russia – to exert political, economic and military influences on Azerbaijan. He argues that none of them is really able to get tangible results from its manipulations. The talk will be based on regular observations and field missions, in Russia and Turkey, as a research associate of the Thomas More Institute in Paris. Laurent Vinatier holds a Ph.D from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, and started to work under Olivier Roy’s direction on the Chechen refugees’ networks in Turkey, Europe, Russia and the South Caucasus. That research then opened a lot of doors and led him to develop sound knowledge of foreign policies of the CIS countries, A post-doctoral fellowship at Bilgi University in Istanbul (2009) added the Turkish component, notably the energy issues.
