This program is seeking to reconstruct the evolution of the social structures affected by the process of neolithisation in SW Asia and in Anatolia in particular. The investigation blends first-hand economic data (archaeozoological and archaeobotanical) with ethnological analyses to replace them within the evolutionary perspective offered by archaeology. Primarily concerned with the advent of animal and plant domestication (relating to the economic infrastructure), the project extends to various social superstructures like ideology, symbolism, decision-making or kinship. Brian Chauvel contact : brian.chauvel@gmail.com Statut : Chercheur associé à l’IFEA 2010-2011: Boursier Tübitak Observatoire Urbain d’Istanbul Thèse de doctorat : Enjeux patrimoniaux et renouvellement urbain en centre historique d’Istanbul. Thèse en sociologie effectuée à l’EHESS-Paris, sous la direction de Nilüfer Göle (CADIS / EHESS). Problématique : A partir d’une recherche qui a débuté dans les quartiers de Fener et de Balat, j’analyse les transformations urbaines (projets de réhabilitation, de renouvellement, de patrimonialisation ; prix de l’immobilier), les mutations sociales (distribution des profils distinctifs par quartier, en fonction des niveaux d’éducation, professions, lieux de naissance) et l’évolution des offres commerciales hybrides (offres touristiques, « islamiques », de produits de consommation courantes) sur la péninsule historique d’Istanbul. Dejanirah COUTO contact : dejanirahcouto@noos.fr Dejanirah Couto studied first in Portugal, where she got a BA in History, and then in France where she obtained a second BA in History and Physical Geography. She also holds two MA’s, one in Historical Geography of Asia Minor (University of Paris-I Panthéon Sorbonne) and the other on late Byzantine history (University of Toulouse-II) as well as a french Ph.D thesis in Byzantine History (8e-13e centuries), (University of Toulouse –II, 1979), and an Habilitation à diriger des recherches in Early Modern History obtained from the University of Paris X-Nanterre where she presented an additional thesis on the history of the portuguese presence in the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean in the 16th century (2006).
